Shengyao XIAO

Shengyao XIAO joined ASM in 2026 as a Software Engineer, providing software support for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. He investigates software behavior and system architecture to identify the software-side root causes of customer tool issues, drawing on an understanding of equipment operating principles and applying SEMI SECS/GEM standards to equipment communication and integration.

He also develops Equipment Automation Programs (EAPs) for customer fabs, connecting manufacturing equipment with factory systems and automating production workflows. Drawing on his computer science background, he applies MVC architecture, established software design patterns and modular design to build maintainable, testable and extensible automation software.

Beyond equipment support and fab automation, he works to bring agentic AI and modern software-delivery practices into the company’s engineering workflows, including CI/CD, reproducible processes and traceable software changes. His focus is on translating advances in software engineering into practical improvements for the semiconductor industry, combining innovation with engineering reliability and operational accountability.

Previously, he worked as a Presales and Technical Support Engineer at ZStack, a Chinese private-cloud technology company. He also worked as a Software Engineer at Seelab in France, developing software involving generative AI, AI agents and image processing.

Shengyao XIAO holds an engineering diploma in computer science and a Master of Engineering degree from Polytech Nantes, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Network Engineering from Shanghai Maritime University.
